Hosting team tournament/duel
Well first off i'm not sure if it's a tournament or duel, because there are 2 teams (which is a duel) but more then 2 players (tournament) xD but that is besides the point.
Just to make this clear, this isn't official or affiliated with the site, so there will be no prizes. nor will this effect your point's/rank
now then Why Am I doing this
well I thought of this duel system and I've been itching to try it out
When will we start?
the time and date I've yet to confirm, but I'm hoping to start sometime today, of course if not I don't mind starting tomorrow. I will start when we have enough people ^^.
How many people will be required
I am going for 2 teams each team consist of 4 members (inspired by 5d's but instead of 3 we have 4 because even numbers are nice) of course if I get more than 4 members i'll just increase the team size.
What is the point of this
The system sounded like a good idea in my head, so I want to test it out before I have a full fledge tournament.
How does this work
A team would consist of 4 members. the Opener, The first support, The Second Support, and the Finisher. when the duel starts the two Openers will duel. then when one of the Openers loses, the baton will be past to the first supporter, and so on moving down to the finisher. life points will be recalculated each duel, but the winner will be forced to use the same deck. This way it will encourage team members to have decks that will cover each others weakness.
For Example: Opener 1 vs Opener 2, after a tough duel opener 1 losses to opener 2, so opener 1 passes his baton to the teams first support. Now the first support will have noticed that opener 2 won because he has an xxxx deck, using this idea supporter 1 will use his yyy deck to counter the xxxx deck. this will go on till the finishers. the finishers duel will be different though. up until now all these duels was a single duel, when it gets to the point of finisher vs finisher, this would be a full match, that is best 2 out of 3 duels, and although they are still not allowed to switch decks, they are able to use a side deck.
visual example:
opener vs opener
opener vs support 1
support 1 vs support 1
support 1 vs support 2
support 2 vs support 2
support 2 vs finisher
finisher vs finisher (match, so a finisher should consist of a very good side deck)
of course this is not set in stone yet and if you have any tips questions, concerns feel free to ask. a 2n'd opinion is always loved.
How will the team be decided
at the moment there are two methods that i've decided
1) the participants will have to provide members for the team
2) from the list of members provided I will try to balance the team out to the best of my ability going by dorm.
How long will this take
I am not sure how long this will take so it might be best that if you actually have to go out and do something, it may be best to not join. it would be horrible that the teams are made and then a person left.
what deck are allowed
at the moment I'm allowing all decks, but I am very flexible, so if you have a deck that you think shouldn't be allowed, post so along with the reason why. and I'll consider it.
Other things that I might add/information that will help you
It will be a good idea that once the teams are made you get together and discuss, I've yet to think of a good way to do this, (at the moment i'm thinking watcher chat in a duel to discuss)
ps. (I also have skype so if my team mates would like to discuss there I don't mind making a room)

how the teams were derived
(keep in mind, this is not based on your dueling skills but instead on how you did on your dorm color, in no way am I saying you are better or worse the somepony else)
step 1
I put everypony's name in order based on dorm (if you're in the same dorm i just put who ever i saw first)

step 3
confirm with other members if this team will be allright/ if there would be any problems/ substitution
(this step has not been done yet, and will be done when we meet)
Time table/ To do list
Gather 8 members
meeting 1
meeting 2 (in case people don't make it to meeting 1 or if there are changes/complications)
meeting 3 (same as above)
tournament 1
tournament 2
tournament 3
If all goes well, we can accomplish this in one day.

Count me in, just as long as it's not hosted on the 22nd. I might be out of town until late in the evening that day.

Re: Hosting team tournament/duel
there has been an update:
If it's not to much to ask for I would like everypony planning to attend to post their time zones and if you know ahead of time, dates/time that you will be busy, or dates/times that you will be free
this way I will be able to host the tournament that will try to allow all participants

I live in the west, but at the time that I posted this response to your request Kuma... It was 11:46 P.M. where I live. So now we just gotta wait on the others to post their times and timezones. (I don't really know mine except for the fact that it's 3 hours behind New York.)

So up for it! Just tell me when!
Time of posting is roughly 12:12 PM, and timezone for Brisbane is apparently UTC+10. So.. don't ask me it's what google said.
